Latest licensure news:

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has recently announced appointments for the Michigan Board of Respiratory Care. Rules approval and mailing of license applications should follow in the near future. We have attached the formal Board appointment announcement to this email. The MSRC recommends that all respiratory therapists bookmark and closely monitor the official Respiratory Therapist Licensing web page at the MDCH

All Respiratory Therapists must keep the MDCH informed of their current address. The MDCH used the NBRC data base as a starting point to identify all practitioners in Michigan, but it may be outdated for many practitioners, especially if you haven't maintained active status with the NBRC and haven't informed the NBRC of new addresses, etc. You should indicate your interest in receiving a license application and update your demographics with the MDCH by email at .

Following is the most recent web-posted announcement from the MDCH.

"Our offices have been developing application packets and reviewing information that is available to us about respiratory therapists. Currently we must wait until the Governor formally appoints the members of the Board. We will then be scheduling an orientation meeting with the Board members to familiarize them with the duties and responsibilities of the Board. We will be then establish regular meetings with the Board. In order to issue licenses, the Department and Board will work together to create rules which establish the basic standards for the issuance of licenses. The rule-making process can take up to 12 months to complete. As soon as we are able to begin accepting applications for licensure, we will be mailing interested parties the application and information about applying for licensure. We have a mailing list from the national board of respiratory care and we have created a list of intrested parties from email and phone requests. The applications will also be posted on our web site when they are available. Check the website periodically for updates on our progress."

The MSRC will continue to keep our membership fully apprised of all licensure developments as they occur. Please pass this email along to all of your fellow practitioners, and encourage them to join the MSRC to receive the most up-to-date news and announcements regarding their licensure. If you have any questions regarding this email announcement, or RT licensure in general, please contact the MSRC at . Thank you.
